When I was a child, my parents always said I had a sharp eye for analysis and observation. I was ever silent as I entered a new room, my eyes darting everywhere, and if someone addressed me, I would take some seconds to respond after I made a full diagnose of said person. I did not expect those eyes to serve me much more than to look and understand until my parents presented me to the visual arts when I was six years old at the MASP (São Paulo Museum of Art). After that experience, my artistic interests grew widely. As my elementary school began promoting the idea of artistic intent to their students, I had a little epiphany and discovered how my eyes could help me develop my own visual perspective.
With time and two different educational institutions in Brazil and one in Colombia, which further developed my creativity and aesthetic sense, the products showcased on this portfolio were born. I began photography when I was nine years of age, and since then, a camera, be it my phone (mostly used) or my father's Canon, has always been in my hands when I feel like recording a special moment. My mother's experience studying fashion inspires my love for image, styling, and design. My continuous study of literature and the happenings of life sparked my poetry and creative writing inscape, and illustrating them became a way to portray the contents of my heart and emotions further. And drawing and crafting have matured into ways I can bring hidden talents to the surface so I can later explore them or just feature them in this ever-evolving portfolio.
Nowadays, as a student who speaks three languages (English, Portuguese, and Spanish) studying at the University of Chicago, I believe that an artistic intent and a keen eye for design are fundamental concepts for my growth as a creative person. I will certainly continue working on more visual pieces as I find inspiration to do so in a world where anything, within the right perspective, can become art.
